First Public Talk in the Lerab Ling Temple

On Sunday (29th), around 400 people came to Lerab Ling to hear Sogyal Rinpoche give a public talk in the temple for the first time. The visitors were mainly from the local region and many had not heard Rinpoche teach before. Rinpoche summarised the key points of Buddhism, and focused in particular on meditation and compassion. He concluded by talking about the different sacred images in the temple and stressed just how much care went into making every aspect of the temple as authentic as possible. He described how the main statue of the Buddha (pictured) was filled with sacred relics and texts, and said the temple had the potential to become a place of pilgrimage in the future.
