Social Networking & Rigpa

Here at Rigpa News we are well aware of the benefits of social networking. In the last couple of years Rigpa has experimented with Facebook, where we now have several groups including this one, currently boasting 450 members, and more recently with Ning, home to our very own networking site, Rigpa Students.

There's no denying that social networking provides real opportunities to share information, become more acquainted with fellow students, and even discuss the teachings. Of course, as with any other form of interaction or communication, these sites could become simply sources of distraction, or excuses to indulge in ordinary samsaric tendencies, but on the whole it seems they can be a support for the path. What do you think? Are you a member of one of these social networking sites? Please feel free to leave your comments below.

I use facebook regularly and find it a great communication tool...as with all tools it depends on the user as to whether it is beneficial deed or a useless time-wasting deed that is performed.
Smiles...Ben =)

These social networking sites are essential and so good for staying in touch and having community in a global way.

I'm happy to see Rigpa its own. It will help infect our samsaric life with dharma!

Being a relatively new member, I find these sites a very helpful way of learning about some history, various teachers, worldwide events, personalities, etc.
Thank you!
